Ryan Reynolds is one of Hollywood’s most diverse leading men seamlessly transitioning through varied genres of drama, action and comedy, in his rich and ever evolving filmography.
A young Reynolds in the teen soap Hillside, and went on to star in Two Guys, A Girl and a Pizza Place, and National Lampoon’s Van Wilder. In 2005, Reynolds landed a leading role in the comedy Waiting… and the romantic comedy Just Friends. In 2008, Reynolds played the lead in the 2008 film Definitely, Maybe, and starred opposite Sandra Bullock in 2009’s The Proposal.
Though Reynolds starred in a string of comedic roles, he has also made a name for himself as an action hero, with roles in Blade: Trinity, Green Lantern, X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Deadpool. It’s with Deadpool that Reynolds found critical and commercial success, earning a Golden Globe nomination for his portrayal of the “Merc with a Mouth”.
Reynolds has also received praise for his dramatic roles, such as his portrayal of a civilian truck driver who is attacked, captured and buried alive in the film Buried, which screened at the Sundance Film Festival and was met with critical acclaim. Reynolds has also starred in many independent low-budget films, including The Voices, The Captive, and Mississippi Grind.
