Michael Bublé’s rich baritone voice, engaging humour and ability to command a stage have made him one of the most sought-after performers in the world.
A passion for the standards nurtured by his maternal grandfather set Bublé on an unprecedented musical course. With the release of his 2003 self-titled debut CD, he established himself not only as an interpreter of the American songbook but also as a showman. The album went top 10 in Canada, the United Kingdom and South Africa and reached the #1 slot in Australia. In the U.S. the album attained Gold status and in Canada, it would bring Buble his first JUNO Award for “Best New Artist”.
Bublé’s sophomore album “This Time”, released in 2005 would, however, be the game changer. Containing his first breakthrough single, “Home”, the CD reached #1 in Canada, Italy and Japan and the top 10 in the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Austria and Sweden. It spent 104 weeks on Billboard’s Top Jazz chart including a record 78 weeks in the #1 spot. In 2006 Buble cleaned up with 4 JUNO Awards and received two Grammy nominations.
Bublé’s success continued in 2007 with the release of “Call Me Irresponsible”. The disc debuted at #2 on the U.S. Billboard charts and quickly took the top spot the next week. It reached #1 in 7 countries, brought Bublé his first Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album and sold over 5 million copies worldwide.
If the past eight years had been truly amazing the success was to be eclipsed upon the release of Bublé’s 4th CD, “Crazy Love” in 2009. The album debuted at #2 on Billboard and in the second week, hit #1 in addition to to achieving #1 status in both Canada and Australia. It would become Michael’s fastest-selling album, until October of 2011 when Bublé’s studio album, “Christmas” rose to the top of the charts in over 20 countries, selling over 7 million and earning him a JUNO for Album of the Year.
In 2013 with the release of “To Be Loved”, his 6th release, Michael Bublé reached a new level of success. The disc has to date, achieved #1 status in 11 countries, was top 10 in 14 counties and received a Grammy Award for “Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album”. His world tour began that summer with an unprecedented 10 sold-out shows at London’s O2 Arena.
To date Bublé has won 4 Grammy’s, 12 Juno’s, a Gemini for Best Performance or Host in a Variety Program and 7 Smooth Jazz Awards. He has three DVDs to his credit and starred in his first NBC Network special. In 2010 he performed at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin before 100,000 fans – his biggest audience to date. In 2013 Michael hosted the JUNO Awards. The show brought in an audience of 2 million, up by 34% over the previous year and garnered him a Canadian Screen Award for Best Host in a Variety or Talk Program.
