Perhaps it was the beginnings of a friendship with drummer Jim Vallance in 1977, an unstoppable and enduring songwriting partnership, which sealed his future success as a rock star. It just might have been his work with Live Aid and Amnesty International’s “Conspiracy of Hope” tour. Then again, his stardom quite possibly could be chalked up to Adams’ original show-stopping blend of edgy rock and chart-topping melodic pop hits, which sealed his fate of stardom. Whatever the cause, ever since bursting onto the charts in 1980, few singers have remained as hip and happening on the global music scene as Bryan Adams.
His instantly recognizable sound – an infectious blend of do-or-die rock ‘n’ roll and perfect pop melodies – has propelled the Kingston, Ontario-born singer to produce 14 albums, over two dozen hit singles and record sales of over 70 million copies worldwide.
In 1990, Adams was made a member of the Order of Canada. In 1998, he was promoted to Officer of the Order of Canada for his positive influence on young people and his continued voluntary efforts through his involvement in fund-raising activities.
