(Toronto, Ontario) December 2, 2014 – Rounding out 2014 on an inspirational high note, Global will air a star-studded salute to this year’s remarkable Canadians during the 2014 Canada’s Walk of Fame on Friday, December 19 at 8 PM ET/PT. Beloved Canadian actor and director, Jason Priestley hosts the two-hour special that pays tribute to this year’s inductees: Louise Arbour, Former Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada and International Lawyer; The Band, Musicians; Jeff Healey, Musician and posthumous Cineplex Legends Inductee; Rachel McAdams, Actor; Ryan Reynolds, Actor; and Hayley Wickenheiser, Athlete. In addition, the show honours The Weeknd, the recipient of the Allan Slaight Award.
The special also features a powerhouse list of celebrity presenters including Canadian actor Jay Baruchel, critically acclaimed actress Wendy Crewson, Hollywood legend Peter Fonda, six-time Olympic medalist Clara Hughes and Juno Award winner Tom Cochrane.
Plus, viewers are in for an unforgettable night with show-stopping musical tributes. Canadian musicians The Treasures, platinum-selling singer-songwriter Bobby Bazini and the Barenaked Ladies’ Kevin Hearn take the stage for a special musical tribute to The Band. R&B singer Sean Jones, drummer Sekou Lumumba, Juno Award-winning bassist Calvin Beale, musician Justin Abedin, songstress Quisha Wint and blues guitarist Jimmy Bowskill perform a moving tribute to Jeff Healey.
