Soulful Songstress Serena Ryder Is First Performer Announced For The Canada’s Walk Of Fame Festival September 19-21 At Massey Hall

JUNO Award winner takes the stage Friday, September 20. Additional performers to be announced. Tickets on sale Friday, July 26.

(Toronto, Ontario) Monday, July 22 – Canada’s Walk of Fame Festival, along with National Premier Partner RBC, announced today that four-time JUNO Award-winner, Serena Ryder is the first performer announced to headline the fourth annual Canada’s Walk of Fame Festival. Making her debut headline performance at Massey Hall, the Toronto-born singer-songwriter will take to the stage at the iconic venue on Friday, September 20, performing favourites from across her career, including the triple platinum hit, “Stompa.”

“Serena Ryder continues to skyrocket on the charts following the launch of her album, Harmony, and we are thrilled to have her headline our Friday night show at Massey Hall,” said Randy Lennox, President and CEO of Universal Music Canada and Talent Chair, Board of Directors, Canada’s Walk of Fame.

Harmony was released in November 2012 and is Ryder’s most successful album to date. In a few short months, it shot to Gold Certification and just last week sales doubled to land her first ever Platinum-certified album. Harmony’s incredible success is testament to the meteoric rise of her first two singles “Stompa” and “What I Wouldn’t Do” on the SoundScan and radio charts. Earlier this year Ryder earned her fourth JUNO Award for Best Adult Alternative Album of the Year and her first MuchMusic Video Award for Rock / Alternative Video of the Year.

The fourth annual Canada’s Walk of Fame Festival returns to Toronto from September 19-21, covering three days of music featuring some of Canada’s most popular performers. Additional performers will be announced in the coming days.

The Canada’s Walk of Fame Festival is a central part of a series of signature events that include the Red Carpet Induction Ceremony, the Canada’s Walk of Fame Awards, the Inductee Charity Ball and the national broadcast on Global and Slice™, which will air in the fall (date and time tbc).

Funding has been provided by Celebrate Ontario and the Government of Ontario through the Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund.
