Canada’s Walk Of Fame Red Carpet Show Sizzles With Star Arrivals And Free Performances!

(Toronto, Ontario) Wednesday, September 11 – Canada’s Walk of Fame, in partnership with National Premier Partner RBC, is getting ready to roll out the red carpet for a parade of stars on Saturday, September 21. In addition to its annual red carpet show and star unveiling ceremony outside the Elgin Theatre on Yonge Street, Canada’s Walk of Fame is offering fans free performances on the red carpet from some of Canada’s most exciting acts and up-and-coming talent.

On September 21 beginning at 12:30 PM, Canadian Indie-Electro-R&B band Dirty Radio will kick off thecelebrations, followed by performances from the winners of the RBC Emerging Artist Music Mentorship Prize, a new initiative supported by the RBC Foundation aimed to encourage and support the next generation of gifted Canadian superstars as part of the Canada’s Walk of Fame Emerging Artists Programs. Also heating up the stage will be two-time SOCAN Award and MTV Europe Music Award-winning singer-songwriter Karl Wolf. The red carpet show culminates at 3 PM with the celebrity arrivals and star unveiling ceremony hosted by ET Canada’s Rick Campanelli, celebrating the 2013 Canada’s Walk of Fame induction of:

  • Craig and Marc Kielburger
  • Oscar Peterson (Cineplex Legends Award Recipient)
  • Christine Sinclair
  • Alan Thicke

The Red Carpet is part of the 15th Anniversary of Canada’s Walk of Fame signature events that include Canada’s Walk of Fame Awards, Inductee Charity Ball, the national broadcast on Global, which will air in the fall, as well as the fourth annual Canada’s Walk of Fame Festival.

Returning to Toronto from September 19-21, the Festival covers three days of music, featuring some of Canada’s most popular and iconic performers. Concerts at Massey Hall include Burton Cummings and Band (Thursday, September 19) with special guest LeE HARVeY OsMOND (Tom Wilson); Serena Ryder (Friday, September 20) with special guest 54-40; and Maestro Fresh Wes and Friends (Saturday, September 21), celebrating 25 years of his groundbreaking career, joined by special guests K-OS, Kardinal Offishall, Classified, Shad and most recently announced special guests to join the line-up, JUNO Award-winning artists Divine Brown and Rascalz, as well as multi-ECMA Award-winning rock band The Trews.

In addition to the ticketed shows, Canada’s Walk of Fame Festival will present three free performances at Monarchs Pub at the Eaton Chelsea Hotel: The Jack De Keyser Band (September 19), Groovestone (September 20) and The Michael Danckert Jazz Band (September 21). As well, Cineplex Entertainment will offer free movie screenings at their Cineplex Cinemas Yonge-Dundas cinemas, showcasing the films of some of Canada’s Walk of Fame inductees. The movie screenings will run on Saturday, September 21, beginning at 9:15 AM and offer $2 popcorn and $2 soft drinks.

Funding for Canada’s Walk of Fame Festival has been provided by the Government of Ontario through the Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund, Celebrate Ontario and Tourism Event Marketing Program.
