Canada’s Walk Of Fame Asks Canadians- Who Inspires You

Nomination campaign for 2014 inductees launches today, in partnership with RBC Avion.

Fans can submit nominations directly via the website, Facebook and mobile devices.

(Toronto, Ontario) April 1, 2014 – Canada’s Walk of Fame, along with National Premier Partner RBC, announces the return of its annual inductee nomination campaign, in partnership with the RBC® Avion® card. Beginning today, fans from across the country and around the world have the opportunity to nominate an outstanding Canadian to receive a Canada’s Walk of Fame Award and celebrate the achievements of Canadians who have excelled in the fields of music, film, sport, television, literature, visual and performing arts as well as science and innovation. Nominations will be accepted through Wednesday, April 30 at 11:59 PM ET. This year’s inductees will be honoured during the national Canada’s Walk of Fame Awards broadcast on Global Television, to be aired at a later date.

Last year, Canada’s Walk of Fame received more than 30,000 nominations from people in over 130 countries. Fans can submit as many nominations as they like each day, but are limited to one contest entry per day, for their chance to win a trip for two to attend Canada’s Walk of Fame Awards in Toronto on Saturday, October 18, 2014, courtesy of RBC Avion. The VIP package includes hotel accommodation, airfare and tickets to the red carpet, Awards Show and spectacular Inductee Charity Ball.

Criteria for Canada’s Walk of Fame 2014 inductee nominations include the following:

  • Nominees must have been born in Canada or have spent their formative or creative years in Canada
  • Nominees must have a minimum of 10 years of experience in their field and have an established body of work
  • Nominees must have had a national or international impact on Canada’s heritage
  • All entries must be submitted by April 30, 2014, at 11:59 PM ET

The 2014 Canada’s Walk of Fame Awards will take place on Saturday, October 18, 2014, at Toronto’s Sony Centre for the Performing Arts. The show will be broadcast nationally on Global Television at a later date. Additional announcements will follow.

Canada’s Walk of Fame 2014 inductee nomination promotion sponsors include RBC, the RBC Avion card, Cineplex Entertainment, The Globe and Mail, Slaight Communications, Shaw Media and NBCUniversal.

In addition, Cineplex Entertainment is the official sponsor of the Cineplex Legends Award, which is an award given posthumously to Canadian pioneers in film, television, music, sports, literature, performing arts, science and innovation.
