The Search for The Canada Honours 2010 Inductees Begins

Canada’s Walk of Fame launches national nomination contest

(Toronto) March 25, 2010—Renewing its commitment to honouring the nation’s finest talent, Canada’s Walk of Fame, in partnership with RBC Visa Infinite Avion, announced the return of its cross-country nomination contest for 2010 inductees. Starting on March 29th, Canadians from coast-to-coast and around the world will be able to enter the contest by recommending potential nominees that they believe deserve to be recognized for their lifetime achievements in the fields of music, sport, film and television as well as the literary, visual and performing arts, science and innovation. Five lucky contest participants will each win an all expenses paid trip for two to Toronto for The Canada Honours Weekend celebration (October 14-17, 2010), courtesy of RBC Visa Infinite Avion. The contest closes April 30, 2010.

Canada’s Walk of Fame is inviting Canadians to submit a nomination for the person(s) they believe deserves to be honoured by visiting (www.canadaswalkoffame.com). Contest sponsors include The National Post, Cineplex Entertainment, Astral Radio and Slaight Communications.
Criteria for nominations includes:
Nominees must have been born in Canada or have spent their formative or creative years in Canada
Nominees must have minimum of 10 years experience in their field
Nominees must have had national or international impact on Canada’s heritage
Public Interest – the total number of nominations received for an individual or individuals.
All entries must be submitted by April 30, 2010

The highlight of a full weekend of events, The Canada Honours Ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Toronto’s Canon Theatre. Presented by RBC Visa Infinite Avion, VW, and Cineplex Entertainment, the ceremony will be broadcast nationally on Global Television on Global Television and SliceTM (date and time TBC).
