Stars To Shine Brighter on Canada’s Walk of Fame

2009 Inductees to be announced on Tuesday, June 16th

Toronto, ON (June 8, 2009) – Canada’s Walk of Fame announced today Canwest as the official broadcaster of the highly anticipated star-studded event in a multi-year deal. The partnership kicks off with the 12th Annual Canada’s Walk of Fame Tribute taking place on Saturday, September 12th at Toronto’s Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.

The tribute, officially known as The Canada Honours, is presented to a selection of internationally recognized Canadian luminaries for their lifetime achievements in the fields of music, sport, film and television, as well as the literary, visual and performing arts, science and innovation.

The total number of recipients to have received a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame will rise to 124 with the addition of the 2009 inductees.

The 2009 honourees will be celebrated during the broadcast on Global Television and SLICETM with retrospective videos, celebrity presenters and special performances. The Canada Honours will include a weekend of special festivities launching with a red carpet ceremony, star unveilings in advance of the tribute presentation.
