Born: November 5, 1959Born in Canada of English parents, the young Adams grew up in a variety of
countries as the son of a diplomat mostly in Europe and the Middle East.
Most of Adams's philanthropic activity is dedicated to his foundation "The Bryan Adams Foundation", which aims to advance education and learning opportunities for children and young people worldwide, believing that an education is the best gift that a child can be given. The Foundation’s area of support is broad and far-reaching, enabling grants to be given for projects supporting the elderly, victims of war and natural disasters, and those suffering from mental or physical illness. The foundation is completely funded by his photographic activities.
Adams has had his photographs published in British Vogue, L'uomo Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Esquire, Interview magazine and i-D, among others. His other photographic efforts include publishing Zoo Magazine, the fashion/art magazine based in Berlin, Germany. On 1 June 2005, he published his first book of photos in the United States with Calvin Klein called American Women; proceeds from this book go to breast cancer research for programs at the Memorial Sloan–Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. He released a similar book of photos called Made In Canada in December 1999. All of his books were dedicated to his friend Donna, who died of the disease.

In addition, he has won two Ivor Novello Awards for song composition and has been nominated for several Golden Globe Awards and three times for Academy Awards for his songwriting for films. Bryan Adams has sold nearly 70 million albums worldwide.
Perhaps it was the beginnings of a friendship with drummer Jim Vallance in 1977, an unstoppable and enduring song writing partnership, which sealed his future success as a Rock Star. It just might have been his work with Live-aid and Amnesty International's "Conspiracy of Hope" tour. Then again, his stardom quite possibly could be chalked up to Adams' original show-stopping blend of edgy rock and chart topping melodic pop hits, which sealed his fate of stardom! Whatever the cause, ever since bursting onto the charts in 1980, few singers have remained as hip and happening on the global music scene as Bryan Adams.
His instantly recognizable sound - an infectious blend of do-or-die rock 'n' roll and perfect pop melodies - has propelled the Kingston, Ontario-born singer to produce 10 albums, two dozen hit singles and record sales of over 50 million copies world-wide. Beginning with his first major hit "Straight from the Heart" in 1983 and including collaborated works with the likes of Tina Turner, Sting, Rod Stewart and Sporty Spice, Melanie Chisholm.
Bryan's charitable works are perhaps what cemented his career during the 1980's. He took part in the July 1985 Live-Aid concert, the Northern Lights "Tears Are Not Enough" for the Ethiopian Famine relief effort, Amnesty International.s tour, the Prince.s Trust Charity, the London Freedom Fest, which in 1988 paid tribute to Nelson Mandela and "the Wall in Berlin", the 1990 production by Roger Waters.
A tireless humanitarian, the award-winning Adams has lent his voice to numerous national and international causes . most notably, breast cancer. Made in Canada, a gorgeous book of photographs of Canadian women by Adams, is his most recent endeavour for this cause. One hundred percent of the book's royalties will benefit the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
He is "deeply honoured" to be inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame.
