The Canada's Walk Of Fame Nomination Contest


Contest Rules 2007

  1. No purchase necessary.
  2. Must be residents of the newspaper sponsors area, 19 years of age and older may enter, except employees and immediate family members (and/or persons domiciled with) of Sun Media, Standard Broadcasting and affiliated companies, Canada’s Walk of Fame, the prize sponsors and any employees or members of their affiliated companies.
  3. By entering, entrant agrees to the contest rules.
  4. Entries must be on an official entry form or reasonably accurate hand-drawn facsimile or submitted online at www.canadaswalkoffame.com.
  5. Only one entry per person.
  6. The sponsors and their suppliers are not liable for web site down-time, mail failure or delay, inability to access Canada’s Walk of Fame web site, lost entries or inability to process entries or any virus or damage incurred by contestant’s computer system.
  7. The chances of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received during the contest period.  A list of candidates from the public nominations will be given to Canada’s Walk of Fame Board of Directors who will evaluate the qualified nominees and make the final decision.  The decision of the contest judges is final.  ‘Eligible entries’ refers to nominations of those who have not already been inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame.
  8. Prize must be accepted as awarded.  No substitutions or cash in lieu in whole or in part. Date of Gala is June 9 2007.
  9. Winners will be determined by a random draw from all eligible entries received and contacted by phone and will have 48 hours to respond, failing which the contest organizers shall be entitled to select a new name from the eligible entries.
  10. Prize includes:
    1. 3 (three) nights’ hotel accommodation at the Delta Chelsea Hotel (approx. value: $1170)
    2. 2 (two) Gala tickets (approx value: $1125 a pair)
    3. Return trip for two (2) people to Toronto from each of the following destinations; Edmonton, AB, Vancouver, BC, Calgary, AB, Winnipeg, MB, Ottawa, ON, Montreal, QC, and Atlantic Canada (with WestJet scheduled service). Winner and his/her guests must arrange and pay for their return transportation between their residence(s) and International airport. Prizing      has an approximate retail value of: Vancouver- $2334.84; Edmonton- $2165.24; Calgary-$2165.24; Winnipeg- $1652.20; Ottawa- $1058.60; Montreal - $1226.78; Atlantic Canada-Based on a St John's NFLD departure - $2052.64 Trip is valid for travel from June 7 2007 to June 11, 2007 and seats are subject to availability and promotional space. Toronto winner – approx value $2400: Return air from Toronto to anywhere WestJet flies with scheduled service to Canada or the contiguous USA. Expires December 15, 2007.

      *No travel on long weekends, holidays such as Christmas, Easter/spring break
      *Flights cannot be changed once confirmed
      *No extensions to travel dates
      *Prize becomes void if sold or lost
      *Winner and guest must travel together on the same itinerary
      *Specific destinations are available to this prize, and destination changes are non negotiable
      *Cancellations are appreciated up to 2 hrs prior to departure; however extensions for travel dates will not be accepted.
    4. All tickets, offers, events, age ranges, services, attractions and entertainment may be seasonal and are subject to change without notice.
      Prize must be taken as offered. Winner and their designated guest’s must travel together on same itinerary in both directions, to and from designated cities awarded. Extensions to the expiry dates, or changes to flights and or passenger names are not permitted once the booking has been confirmed. No credit or reimbursement will be provided if the prize is not used. Prizes may not be redeemed nor exchanged for cash or flight credit. Prizes are non-transferable. The Partner/Sponsor is not responsible for any delay, postponement or cancellation, for any reason, of any event(s), exhibit(s), or attraction(s) forming part of any Prize. Prize cannot be combined with any other promotional offer or offers provided by the Partner/Sponsor. Winner must be age of majority in his or her province to be qualified for the prize. All expenses other than those mentioned above are the winner’s responsibility and his or her guests. Employees of all associated Partners/Sponsors and their immediate families are ineligible to enter.
  11. Contest closes February 28, 2007 at noon.
  12. Potential winners must correctly answer a mathematical time limited skill-testing question.
  13. The media sponsors and Canada’s Walk of Fame have the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value.
  14. Winner must agree to his/her name and/or photo being used without compensation for publicity purposes and to sign an affidavit of compliance and a waiver of liability on behalf of the Toronto Sun and all promotional partners.
  15. Decision of the judges is final.

In the province of Quebec, any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of this contest may be submitted to the Regie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Regie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement. Subject to the jurisdiction of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux in Quebec, Sponsor reserves the right to amend or terminate all or any portion of this contest at any time without prior notice, including but not limited to the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value.
